The Eye - War Wound

My sister asked me to post pictures of my eye. I am sorry they are so grotesque. But this is it. I got hit in the eye playing Amtgard over the weekend. In four years, one injury, pretty good. And I do get out and fight every week. It was just a heavier weapon with no give and a big guy wielding it. He felt so bad, and apologized profusely. It was a complete accident and something I realize can happen every time I take the field. Luckily nothing is broken. Yes, I had X-Rays on Monday, and will go to the Opthamalogist on Friday. Let the healing begin!!
This first one is from Monday.

And this second one is from last night, much improved if you ask me.

Bubbles!

I am so counting that as his first real word, considering before this he said the normal, "mama", "dada", "nana"(banana), "ow", "uh oh", but nothing I would consider a true word. Until now! He hasn't stopped saying it since he did that first time. And we've gone though more than half a bottle of bubbles in little over a day. How can you not give him some when he asks? : )

April Fun!

I have to apologize first of all for not posting all of this as it happened. Its been a crazy month. And now I am going to post it all now, which is going to be a huge post, but I didn't feel like breaking it into several.
Back on March 29th, my mother-in-law had an Easter party for the kids, since several of us weren't going to be in town on Easter. So here are some fun photos of Xander at the Easter Egg Hunt for that party. We also had finger foods and cupcakes, and all the cousins got to be together. No bonnets this year.

On the 2nd of April, Xander and I hopped onto a plane and headed for Seattle. We were there from the 2nd to the 6th. With Dave gone to Maryland for 5 weeks, I thought who better to spend Easter with then my sister Melissa. Not to mention I got to be there for her birthday. It was a great time and baby Cameron is so cute! We had a blast! It was hard at times doing stuff with both babies, but it turned out to be a great time!
First big thing we did was on the 3rd. We decided to ride the Bunny Express! So we drove an hour, waited in the snow and took the two boys on the train. Xander loved it! And he got to meet the Easter Bunny. Cameron mostly slept.

Second big thing we did was on Easter. The Morton's had a fun Easter Egg hunt for the kids. Xander was a pro this time and found lots of eggs Melissa and I didn't even see.

Check this one out, it was high up on the wall and Xander was pointing at it, how did he find that? I was pretty impressed with my boy.

They also had an adult Easter hunt and it was pretty fun. I only found 7 eggs, but that was okay, I still got a bunch of prizes and candy. We spent most of the day at the Morton's here is a cute picture of Cameron from that day and also Xander had his first experience with BUBBLES! He loved them!

The day before I left, Melissa's birthday, we got a little time away from the boys and went and got a pedicure, and that night went to the Casino down the road and ate at the buffet. It was a good time. We also decided last minute to get Cameron and Xander's pictures taken together. We still don't have those back from the portrait studio, but can I just say, WAY TOO CUTE!! They were so good and smiled and the pictures are just precious. I can't wait to get them. I am sure many of you will be seeing them once we do. The other fun thing, while we were there was Cameron tried rice cereal for the first time. I had to post these photos, they were just too adorable!

We flew back on Tuesday the 6th and had three seats all to ourselves, so I put Xander in a big boy chair and buckled him in, doesn't he just look so big!

The 7th was my 30th birthday and I mostly had to do laundry and get my bag packed again for my next trip. But after doing that in the morning, Xander and I had a Mommy/Son day. We went to Red Robin for a late lunch, early dinner, and then headed to the Gateway to go and Experience Discovery Gateway! Xander totally dug it! He was so excited to just play with everything. Here are some fun pictures of his exploration.

After we went to Discovery Gateway, we stopped and got an ice cream cone. I decided to just give it to him, well, it was a messy treat to say the least. And since I was driving us home, I didn't realize until we got home that he ate the paper that goes around the cone, oops! : )

When I got back from being with Xander, there was a beautiful bouquet of flowers from my darling sisters with a card that read FOREVER 29!!! I will take it! So if you ask from now on, I am 29. : )

On the 8th of April I hopped on another plane and headed to Maryland to see Dave. I spent Thursday - Sunday with him, without the boy. We didn't do much, just hung out with each other, went out to eat and went to a movie. We were both tired and just so happy to see each other. I was bad at taking pictures and only took this one picture the entire time I was there.

While I was away, Xander got a hard hit. He was at the bottom of the stairs and one of his cousins pushed a tonka type car down the stairs and hit Xander right above the eye. We were lucky it wasn't worse. Here is a picture of what it looked like when I got home.

That pretty much covers our April. We were busy bees! Dave is home now and we are both glad to be home. Xander wasn't sure at first what to think about Daddy, I wasn't sure if he remembered him or not. But it didn't take long and he was all over Daddy, sitting on him, playing with him, showing him everything, and saying "Dada", like he never left. In fact, just this morning he kept asking for him, and I had to say he was at work and he'd see him tonight. It was truly cute!

Clean Carpets, YEA!!

So my sister-in-law, after seeing my inability to use our new Steam Cleaner, said she would be happy to clean my carpets. And after my inability to use the new Steam Cleaner, I agreed, and below is the result. Xander totally digs the clean carpets. I have to say that she did an AMAZING JOB! And I love how good they look. It looks like brand new carpet. Thank you, Chante!!!

Elton John & Billy Joel Concert!!

Friday night was the Elton John/Billy Joel concert. I won tickets on the Radio back last August and the concert was originally set for November 19th, but Billy Joel got sick, so they moved it to February 19th instead. So more than six months after winning tickets I finally got to go to the concert. My sister Marianne and I went. She LOVES Elton John, and so I wanted to give her that chance to see him, even though he was with Billy Joel. However, she did say after the concert that maybe she was more of a Billy Joel fan than she thought she was. So that was a bonus. I enjoyed both, but have to say that Billy stole the show. It was truly amazing though! Elton played the piano beautifully and sang his songs. When it was Billy's turn he played his piano as it spun in a circle, he played the guitar, danced, and twirled his microphone stand around. He spun it faster and faster, and then threw it in the air and caught it, and then threw it across the stage, over his piano and a guy on the other side caught it. Then during the final performance, when both were playing, he attached a harmonica to his shoulder and while playing the piano he played the harmonica. It was incredible! It is so hard to sing and play, let alone do that! I was very impressed. The playing and singing they did together was so fantastic, they both can just fly over the keyboards. It was a great night! We were pretty far up, but here are some cool pictures of the stage. Thanks, Marianne for coming with me, it was a lot of fun!
